| Can anyone help in putting any names to the people on the following photographs.
On numbers two and three, where I am not sure, I have enclosed the names in brackets so I hope no one is offended if I have got them wrong. But let me know anyway. The second batch have all come from Jimmy Browns papers but I suspect they were originally his mothers. If you can help with this, then please contact me at:- Brian McNeill |
This was taken at the studio of G Hinchcliffe in Scotland Road Liverpool, in the 1870's. This is only a guess but it does tie in with the only two possibilities I can think of, which is that it is one of our gt.gt. grandparents families, both of whom arrived from Ireland around 1870:Hugh & Bridget McNeill with their children; Patrick 1864; John 1865 and Mary1867, were all born in Ireland so would have to be favourite rather than James & Ellen Gartland, as their children; Thomas 1870; Susannah 1873 and John 1876 were all born in Co. Durham. |
This photo taken probably around the late 1940's in Dolphin Street Newcastle upon Tyne shows from left to right, (queries in brackets):
Back row; Jimmy Brown (? ?) Nellie Brown (Jean McNeill) Middle row; Joe Brown (its a wild guess but would suggest the other boys are Ronnie, Hughie and Norman McNeill, and girls are Joan, Eileen and Dorothy McNeill,) |
The following, reading from left to right and front to back are:
Marion Goldsmith, Brian McNeill, (Susannah Goldsmith), Eileen Martin, Lynne McNeill, (Jacquie Jenkins), (Clive ?), (Morgan Jenkins), (Lynda Jenkins), Dave Bloomfield, (?), (? Floody), (Antoinnette Jenkins), (?), (? Floody), (Julie Bloomfield), (?), Jimmy Brown, (Ailsa McNeill), (Tom Goldsmith), Hughie McNeill, Rosamond McNeill, Norman McNeill, Rosalind McNeill, Dorothy Bloomfield. I know where Neil Martin was, he took the photograph but where was Joan McLeod? Answers by e-mail please. If I have missed anyone out, please let me know. Brian McNeill |
